Hill Top C of E Primary School | Bradford

Hill Top C E Primary School

Hill Top is a Foundation Status, Church of England Primary School.  Our church school is a proud member of the Diocese of Leeds and is central to the heart of the community it serves.  Our close relationship with Holy Trinity Church, The Salvation Army and The Zephaniah Trust are integral to our commitment to provide a holistic education that nurtures both academic and spiritual growth.

Our children visit Holy Trinity at various times during the course of the school year. We visit to support or follow up work we are doing in our Religious Education Curriculum, and to celebrate special Christian events such as Harvest, Easter and Christmas. We also support a variety of events that take place at Holy Trinity including the Spring Fayre, Carol Service and Mother’s Day Service. Members of the Salvation Army and Zephaniah Trust regularly lead acts of Collective Worship in school.

Rooted in the Christian values; perseverance and endurance, peace, hope, compassion, service and community, our school is committed to providing a nurturing environment where love comes first. It is the foundation of who we are and all we do.

We teach children to love first; 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' Mark 12:31 and to show love in their words and in their actions, treating everyone with dignity and respect.

Our school fosters not only a love of learning but also a spirit of understanding, compassion and cooperation among children and adults of various backgrounds and beliefs.  We embrace diversity and instil respect for other faiths through our curriculum and the enrichment opportunities that we provide for our community.

As a church school, a member of Holy Trinity represents the church on our Board of Governors. She is known as a Foundation Governor and is Mrs. Liz Flintoft.  It is her role to support the Christian ethos of the school and support the school in its planning, delivery and monitoring of Collective Worship.

Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church in Low Moor, Bradford, is a striking Grade II listed building with a long and significant history. Originally built in 1606 as the Wibsey Chapel of Ease and consecrated to the Holy Trinity in 1636, it has been enlarged over the centuries, with major developments in 1836 and 1883, and a substantial renovation in 2009 that added accessibility features, a kitchen, and flexible spaces. Today, the church is not only a place of worship but a vibrant hub for local life, offering both relaxed and traditional Sunday services as well as mid-week gatherings. It has a strong connection with Hill Top C. of E. Primary School.  Church leaders support school worship, welcome pupils to services throughout the year, and take part in shared celebrations. Beyond its school links, Holy Trinity actively serves the wider community through events such as coffee mornings, community drop-ins, and local outreach initiatives, ensuring the church remains at the heart of life in Low Moor.

Zephaniah Trust

Zephaniah Trust is a Christian charity based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, whose mission is to “take light into dark corners” through music, storytelling, and the arts.  Founded in 1994 around the work of singer-songwriter John Froud, the organisation now includes a small team of keyworkers and creatives who deliver assemblies, RE lessons, workshops, arts weeks, and exhibitions in schools.  They also partner with local churches and community groups to run family-friendly events—such as holiday clubs, a “Light Party” as an alternative to Halloween, and a weekly youth group.  The Trust makes all its educational work free at the point of use, helping to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent access for children and young people.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army plays an active and strategic role in schools across the UK through its Schools Ministry and youth-support programmes. Its schools ministry team works within schools — leading assemblies, delivering RE lessons and offering pastoral support.  The Salvation Army also provides a wealth of free resources for teachers and pupils, including lesson plans, assemblies, and creative materials to explore their faith, history, and social mission.
